The base
We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our Assistant Portfolio Manager be in the office 3 days per week. This is to sustain our culture of innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building relationships within the business.

This is an opportunity to work interdependently with an engaged team that sits within a global Equities function at a global asset management firm.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will provide a wide range of support to portfolio managers and analysts ranging from basic desk support to the creation of value-added tools. Candidate should have foundational understanding of equity portfolio management and show intellectual curiosity about the financial markets.
Responsibilities
Quantitative Support
- Develop and maintain intimate understanding of Small and Mid Cap Strategies
- Identify, evaluate and communicate potential biases at the portfolio and analyst level (e.g. market cap, volatility, and quality) to ensure all biases are understood and deliberate
- Work closely with analysts and PMs to scale investment process (e.g. sentiment tracking, new idea screening) with particular attention applied to implementation and value-add
- Act as the U.S. Small and Mid Cap Team’s advisor and subject matter expert on data science, data engineering and act as a bridge to the central DIU where necessary
- Make sure the U.S. Small and Mid Cap Team has “a voice in the room” in centralized projects where they should be considered a key stakeholder, and advocate for projects that would benefit that team
Trading and Workflow Support
- General assistance to the team, e.g., monitoring company reporting dates, news flow, sourcing and collating research, compiling and analyzing portfolio data, compiling fundamental and technical stock data from various sources
- Support all aspects of trade lifecycle: Trade entry, portfolio compliance, corporate actions, settlements and trading desk
- Liaison with other departments on behalf of the Small and Mid Cap Team, e.g. new portfolio onboarding, operational compliance, business analysts
- Maintain data integrity in FactSet (reports, data quality, automated processes)
- Product Management and Marketing Support
- Support the creation of marketing material and PowerPoint presentations for client pitches, portfolio review meetings, roadshows, and quarterly and annual reporting
- Market intelligence research both on team strategies and peer group to better identify the competitive position of the team’s suite of products
- Ensure RFP’s are completed with the highest standards possible and tailored to clients’ needs
Basic Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of experience in investment support (similar role supporting PMs and equity analysts)
- FactSet (emphasis on PA3 and Universal Screen)
- Basic attribution performance measurement and reconciliation skills
- Experience with Aladdin a plus
- Proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint; macros/basic VBA a plus
- Articulate with strong attention to detail
Compensation
Schroders offers a base salary in a range of $95,000 to $110,000 for this position.
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
